    The Indiana Memorial Union operates as a hotel, a conference center and a student union. Conference Registration, many sessions and some of the meal and social functions will be centered in the Indiana Memorial Union. For your convenience, we recommend that you book your hotel reservations at the IMU

      Contact the hotel directly. Inform the reservation staff person that you are attending the Shifting Frontiers in Late Antiquity conference. Unless you identify yourself as a conference participant, you may be unable to obtain a room.

      We encourage you to make your reservation early as accommodations are often difficult to secure during the month of April – a busy time of year for many campus activities. The Shifting Frontiers in Late Antiquity block of hotel rooms will be released to the general public on March 2, 2009.

      Hotel room rates are based on:
    • Type of room (single or double)
    • Weekday (Sun-Thurs) or weekend (Fri & Sat) check-in

      The following are representative room charges current for April 2008:

      • Single, weekday room w/one double bed $ 89.00
      • Single, weekday room w/one king bed $119.00
      • Double, weekday room w/2 double beds $109.00
      • Double, weekday room w/2 queen beds $119.00
      • Suite, weekday w/2 double beds,parlor,bath $219.00
      • Weekend rates are approximately $20.00 per day additional charge.

      All rooms are subject to and 12% tax.

    Special dietary needs will be accommodated at all food functions.

    When you register for the conference, you will be given the opportunity to identify any special dietary needs. Foods will be selected to assure that your requests are met.

    Dining in Bloomington

    There are many pleasant pubs, restaurants and coffee houses located a short walking distance from campus.

    • Kirkwood Avenue is a main street leading from campus to downtown Bloomington. Along Kirkwood you will find many casual eating options.
    • 4th Street is renowned for its unusual and unusually large selection of ethnic restaurants – Indian, Italian, Moroccan, Thai, Burmese, Mexican, Cajun and Korean. Located between 4th and Kirkwood is one of only two restaurants in the US featuring authentic Tibetan cuisine.
